Lenny Morris is a respected musician, writer, manager and producer in San Diego, California. With pristine vocals and a refreshing mix of acoustic R&B, Rock, blues, and soul, Morris has been generating a lot of buzz with his emergence in the San Diego music scene. He has been featured in The San Diego Reader for his live music production company, Lenny Morris Music Productions. Whether it’s a luxury hotel, a wedding, an upscale wine bistro, a high end restaurant, an intimate coffee house, a prominent music venue or a corporate event, you will probably find him featured at least a couple times a week across the city. He holds several weekly and monthly residencies in San Diego, CA including Gordon Biersch, Hard Rock Cafe, Hooley's Irish Pub, Hennessey's Tavern and The Salty Frog to name a few. His band “Lenny Morris and TNT” has been featured at Indie Fest, one of San Diego's biggest festivals and they have also been featured at The House of Blues, Humphrey's, The Hard Rock and Ramona Mainstage.
Morris puts his own spin on songs from virtually every decade, starting with the 1950's. Give him an acoustic guitar and you will probably see him play Michael Jackson, Frank Sinatra and The Beatles in the same sitting, with no lack of confidence. Ask him what style of music he plays? He'll probably think for a second and then blurt out, "everything". Rock, Alternative, Soul, Jazz, Blues, you name it. He especially loves to sing Classical and operatic style music, stemming from an early-aged introduction to musical theatre and a later fascination with singer Josh Groban.
Lenny Morris began playing the guitar as a young teenager, but truly realized his love for music and inspiring others through watching the late Michael Jackson biopic “Captain Eo".
“I remember watching this amazing, almost larger-than-life artist on the big screen…He had super powers and was basically ingesting ‘goodness’ into ‘evil’ through song and dance. It was truly a powerful experience for me. I was maybe 4 or 5.” says Morris. From that point, his musical influences were all over the place and to this day, his interesting plethora of inspirations have ignited an intense passion for music and reaching a grander audience. He thanks his mother for raising him well and for introducing him to a generally non-biased view of music.
"I like to entertain. I like to see people's faces light up when I sing a rendition of a song they recognize, or when they are intrigued by a message in one of my own songs. Music is very powerful and I can see it in people's eyes alot of the time. It keeps me focused on striving to make a difference."
Morris has had the opportunity to share the stage with some noteable artists, including Ernie Halter, Ryan Cabrera, Josh Damigo, actor Mark Christopher Lawrence and more. He released his home-recorded and produced acoustic EP “Lenny Morris Music” in November of 2010 on Itunes, Amazon mp3, and other sites. He is currently working hard writing songs for his highly anticipated sophomore album, to be released in the Spring of 2012.
